Community event to celebrate dance, culture, and Exhibit Columbus Opening Weekend

Columbus, Indiana — On behalf of Landmark Columbus Foundations’ Exhibit Columbus, residents and visitors, alike, are encouraged to attend Rock the Block Party & Dance Show, a free community event offered as part of the grand Opening Weekend of the 2023 Exhibition.

Rock the Block will take place from 7 to 10 p.m., Saturday, August 26, 2023, in downtown Columbus, at the intersection of 4th and Washington Streets. The event is free, open to all ages, and will feature cultural performances, a live DJ and dance floor. Beer and wine will be available for purchase for those ages 21 and older. No ticket or registration is required.

Four dance groups offering cultural performances are:

  • Dance Street Studio (Swing and Salsa)

  • Monja Ninja (Japanese Dance)

  • Bollywood Beats (Indian Dance)

  • Black Excellence (African American Dance)

Rock the Block is part of the 2023 Exhibition, Public by Design, official Opening Weekend, which runs August 25 and 26. In addition to this event and throughout the day, the Exhibition installations will be activated with activities for leisure, entertainment, and connection. This free community celebration is made possible in part by the Rock the Block planning and support committee: co-chairs, Sarla Kalsi and Alice Johnson, and planning members, Laura Miller, Annie Johnson, and Ike and Kelsey DeClue.
